Our Year 7/8 Coding class recently introduced the Preps to a set of 6x BeeBots (robots) for use in the Prep to Year 2 classes. Together the students explored the BeeBots and learnt about how to follow and describe a series of steps or algorithms to program the floor robots. Whilst learning about programming for distance and direction they were also learning how to collaborate with new technology. The BeeBots are part of a technology partnership with Lochard Energy designed to raise the profile of STEM in our classrooms and the students were definitely very excited by these new digital bugs!
To conclude their biology unit, our Year 7 Science students created food webs to demonstrate their understanding of the interaction between organisms in soil and plants and the affect of an introduced species in an ecosystem. Producers, decomposers and consumers were all identified in our own very real 'Circle of life'.
