As part of their studies into cow health, the Year 7/8 TAP into Dairy / Cows Create Careers students hosted Andy Powell, Chook Fowler & James Maxwell (WCB) who explained about the need to fully feed cows and develop a balanced ration for various stages of a cow's lactation. Students investigated various feed types such as silage, vetch hay, pasture hay, irrigated pasture and different concentrates etc to understand the need for both starch and fibre in a cow's diet.
Sean, Ingrid and Sean explained about the background & success of the TAP during a panel discussion with other Agribusiness personnel at the Westpac brunch at the Sungold Fieldays on Wednesday 11th Feb. They distributed TAP brochures and bunches of lavender to participants and answered questions about their studies and career aspirations. Thanks to Westpac for the invitation to present our unique curriculum model to our local agribusiness community
During the first week of term one the C45 Business Study students, picked lavender and made lavender oil. The next step is using the oil and flowers in produce to create a viable business.
