Timboon P12’s VCE Business Management class successfully hosted visiting students from Terang, as well as Hawkesdale P12 College students via video conference on Monday. Mr Lane shared his valuable insight into the Warrnambool Cheese and Butter organisation. He spoke about its important role in the local community, the management structure, make-up of the Board and the importance of the culture that exists within the organisation. The students were able to ask questions about the news-making takeover by Canadian dairy giant Saputo and gather valuable information on a great local case study for their course notes. It was interesting to hear how WCB’s history and its positive role in the local community was seen as a valuable asset of the company by Saputo in the take-over negotiations. Mr Lane also answered questions relating to the possible future directions of the company and what that might mean for local suppliers - concluding that the future looks very positive for stakeholders. Along with the
teachers from Terang and Hawkesdale, I would like to thank Andrea Vallance’s role in organising Robert to speak to our students. It was a valuable
experience, and another positive aspect of theTimboon Agricultural Project.
