Our Year 3/4 students and teachers have been working hard on the design and creation of their sensory garden near the new playground. The old garden beds have been cleaned, weeded and revamped with new pathways, edging, rock areas while the existing concrete retaining wall has been pressure washed with students working with teachers and Lee McLeod to add images that relate to our local area and surrounds. Mr Bell’s Year 7/8 Step Up class and senior Product Design students are also part of the creative team and have been working on a colourful picket fence with giant wooden pencils as designed by the Year 3/4 students. This team work exercise was designed to reconnect, bond and have an opportunity to work together after a year disrupted by COVID restrictions and online learning and will definitely be worth keeping an eye on. The Careers Advisory Panel (CAP) was recently launched by Food and Fibre Great South Coast (FFGSC) to raise awareness and inspire food and fibre’s next generation by having real conversations about everything food and fibre – and there’s a lot to talk about. The CAP was created to help showcase the broad spectrum of food and fibre jobs – from farmer, to hydrogeologist, to designer, to veterinarian, to agribusiness manager, to forester, to chef – and the incredible opportunities they present. Our TAP Coordinator was part of a Careers and Community Engagement Expert Panel with representatives from SW LLEN, GSG LLEN, Neil Porter Legacy and WestVic Dairy who gave advice to CAP members about school and community engagement opportunities. Let's get talking about working together to get talented people into the food and fibre career they'll love! |
